Sketching and Watercolor: Journal Style with Jane LaFazio
Want to learn to draw and paint what you see? Want to learn to create an illustrated journal page of your day, your garden, your trip? Spend the day drawing and painting objects from real life in a relaxed supportive environment. Jane will show you how to take the time to really look at the item in front of you and draw what you see, not what you think you see. (Haven't drawn since the third grade? Jane can teach you.) Then she’ll demonstrate the use watercolors using a straight-forward, intuitive approach, how to mix color and apply the watercolor to paper. You’ll make a few pages as unique as your own handwriting. Jane will show you how to enhance your drawings with creative page layouts and journaling.
Selection of watercolors
Niji Waterbrush (medium size, round)
Pitt Artist Pen (superfine, black)
A few sheets or journal of good quality watercolor paper (minimum size 5x7 inches, maximum 9x12 inches). If you want to start a sketchbook, Stilman and Birn sketchbooks are great for journaling!
Bring something to draw. I'm thinking this would be the perfect year to create your own illustration for your holiday cards. Poinsettia, dreidel, pinecone, or holiday ornament? Bring a selection of things to draw, they don’t have to be Holiday related. Fresh flowers, and veggies are always good!
