From abstraction to representation & the nuances of light.
The garden and surrounding architecture and landscape of San Clemente Art Supply will provide an abundance of inspiration for developing a painting from its exciting abstract beginnings to a representational finish. We will paint the lush May roses in the garden, the scenes beyond, or the still life in the adjacent studio at your discretion on the first day. Students will learn how to compose a beautiful painting and then take it to the next level by understanding how light quality (both natural outdoor and artificial indoor) influences the development of form and color.
The focus will be in soft pastels, well suited to making quick and accurate color notes for developing finished paintings on the second day. The class size will be limited so that Mary may offer you guidance in the artistic growth you seek, whether you are a beginner (ideally with some drawing skills) or an advanced painter looking to more fully develop your vision.
