A NEW NAME FOR SCAS CLASSES & WORKSHOPS!!!
We’re proud to welcome the San Clemente Center for the Arts (SCCA). Our
instructional classes and workshops have become so popular that they’ve
earned their own name. Our goal is to bring in the best local, national
& international instructors and provide a friendly, personal atmosphere
in which to study. We’re honored we’ve been able to attract such amazing
instructors, and it is our fondest desire that our classes give artists
more skills to express themselves with, along with a real sense of
community.
We are unique in what we offer here; our youngest students are 5, and we
have students in their 80’s. SCCA offers a large variety of subjects,
including a monthly Mixed Media Salon ,Open Life Drawing every Wed
evening, and a Costumed Model Studio. Classes and workshops cover
pastels, acrylics, water soluble and traditional oils, Still Life, Plein
Air, Portrait and figure painting and drawing. There are wonderful 4
week and Holiday classes for children as well.
Some of these fill quickly so you might want to have a look at the offerings sooner than later.
You can register by phone or in person. Come and join us, you will be
happy you did.
Come see the newly expanded San Clemente Art Supply and let us help you with your art, framing and class needs.
Our Commitment to the Environment
We are committed to become more environmentally friendly; our first step was to eliminate our printed newsletter by switching to email; our next step is to eliminate plastic bags. We plan to use our current stock and not re-order any more. The harm these bags do to the planet is astonishing and preventable. Please take a moment to view the following slide show by clicking on the link below. It will definitely make you aware of the scope of the problem.

Here is another glimpse of the plastics issue: The Pacific Gyre is a garbage patch of floating / suspended plastic & trash in the Pacific ocean twice the size of Texas.

It never goes away, it just breaks down into smaller & smaller pieces, microplastics, which are even more dangerous as they as more easily eaten by birds & marine animals. Worse yet, plastic absorbs toxins like a sponge, holding concentrations up to a million times greater than the surrounding water. For more info, visit Algalita.org
As an alternative we will have our reusable bags in two sizes.
The large bags are free with a $75 purchase, or $2 each.
Messenger size bags, available Nov.2008, are free with a $50 purchase, or $1.75 each.
Each time you shop using any reusable bag, or don’t need a bag at all, we will enter your name in a monthly drawing for a $25 gift card to the store.
Thank you everyone, for your help in this effort.
